Clinical Nutrition Immersion Program

Ideal candidates
Nutrition and/or functional medicine students in their final year of graduate work, or recent graduates who have completed their master’s degree, who are looking to apply their rich scientific knowledge clinically in real-life situations.

How to connect a health history with current symptoms and determine appropriate testing and/or treatment.
What your strengths and limitations are as a clinician so you can build a network to complement your care.
How to sharpen your skills as an investigative functional medicine provider to identify the underlying cause of your clients' symptoms.
How to apply the latest research, therapeutic tools and supplementation that have delivered results with our patients.
How to use and interpret laboratory testing results to determine root causes of symptoms and develop treatment strategies.
How to run a practice, including charting, clinical forms, HIPAA compliance, patient communication, fee collection, patient resources and questionnaires.
How to create treatment plans for real patients with guidance and supervision from your instructors.
Course schedule
Our 12-week immersion program is made up of weekly modules that focus on different aspects of clinical nutrition. Each week includes 1-2 hours of video education, clinical observation, handouts and a live discussion on Mondays from 4-5:30 pm PST with your mentors and fellow learners (questions can submitted in advance and recordings are provided for those who cannot attend).

components of preparing initial consultations and developing treatment
plans. Receive our clinic intake forms, a charting template, and copies
of previous chart notes for your reference. You will then create a preliminary treatment plan for this patient.*
Watch a pre-recorded follow-up laboratory review appointment with Patient 1. In this appointment, we review comprehensive medical panels and food sensitivity testing as well develop a collaborative treatment plan with Patient 1. Get access to laboratory test results, chart notes, treatment plans, sample menu plans, and other tools that help create compliance with patients. You will then create and share a comprehensive treatment plan for Patient 1.*
Watch pre-recorded follow-up appointment with Patient 1. In this appointment, Megan Barnett and the patient review the progress and results and find out how the treatments have led to improvements in the patient's overall well-being. In addition, we witness the development of further treatment approaches that can help your patient supercharge their new lifestyle habits and create sustainable outcomes. You will have the opportunity to refine the treatment plans for this patient.*
Watch a pre-recorded initial consultation with Patient 2, with a focus on digestive health. We share our clinical experience with gut testing and our favorite resources for staying up-to-date on the latest research. You will then create a preliminary treatment plan for this patient.*
Watch a pre-recorded follow-up laboratory review appointment with Patient 2. In this appointment, we review stool testing and develop of a collaborative treatment plan with Patient 2. Participants will have access to laboratory test results, chart notes, treatment plans, sample menu plans, and other tools that help create compliance with our patients. Finally, participants will create and share their own treatment plans for Patient 2.*
This week we dive deeper into digestive health. We discuss the pros and cons of stool testing and when to seek out additional laboratory testing. We also review treatment approaches for a range of conditions and common symptoms. Finally, we differentiate tactics for treating the small intestine and large intestine.*
We discuss the pros and cons of hormones, heavy metal, and environmental testing. We also review treatment approaches for a range of conditions and common symptoms. Finally, we explore treatment options for safe detoxification and hormone balancing. Individualized case studies will be assigned.*
We discuss other testing tools we use at our clinic for mold, Lyme, heavy metals, mycotoxin, environmental triggers, organic acids, micronutrients and antibodies. We explain how and why we call upon this testing on a case-by-case basis. Then we review treatment approaches for common results we encounter.*
This week, we discuss the common inflammatory conditions we see in our clinic, including pain, fatigue, autoimmunity, histamine response. We review treatment approaches and clinically useful tools for improving outcomes for these patients. We also share our supplement guide, which includes our go-to supplements for patients.*
This week we dig into how to get patient compliance to achieve faster results. We explore the benefits of working alongside a medical provider, building out a referral network, and the benefits of understanding your scope of practice. We explain ways to market yourself to other providers and to new patients. We discuss additional tools that help you further clarify the type of practice you want to create.
